John Morgan House/Colonial Cottage
Listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage, this 1.5 story frame dwelling was built for John Morgan circa 1880. It now houses The Colonial Cottage.
Duke-Elliott-Grizzard House
This house was built circa 1895 by Dr. J. D. Duke and his wife, Clarence and Edna (Duke) Elliott were later residents. The current owners are Al and Janet Grizzard. The house is referred to an “The Blue Lady” in A Rush to Judgment, a novel loosely set in Heflin.
Cleburne County Courthouse
With the growth and prosperity of Heflin due to the close proximity of the railroad, a movement began in 1905 to move the county seat from Edwardsville to Heflin. After a legal battle, an election was held, and Heflin won by 88 votes.
The courthouse construction was completed by October 5, 1907. The dome and clock are part of the original structure. The two, two-story wings were added in 1938. In 1976, the courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and still serves as office space for most of the county’s business.
Shoal Creek Church
The Shoal Creek Baptist Church is located in the heart of the Talladega National Forest about 13 miles from Heflin, Alabama. Over a century ago, these hills and hollers were heavily populated with gutsy pioneers whose courage and perseverance were aided by their worship of God in this historic structure.

War Monument Memorial
The War Monument Memorial is located on Legion Road in Heflin, Alabama. The War Monument Memorial was placed in Heflin in honor of the men and women that fought for our freedom.
The Train Depot
The Train Depot was built around the 1890’s. During the late 1950’s the railroad decided that they would not be using the stop in Heflin in the future. In the 1960’s the train depot was moved from the tracks. The train depot has been the home of various activities such as the Arts and Craft League, home of a museum, etc. It is now the site of the Cleburne County Chamber Office.
