All dog owners living within the city limits of Heflin are required to purchase a pet license from city hall for a fee of $3.00. Licenses are to be renewed each year by August 31st. Before receiving a license, the owner must provide proof that their dog is currently vaccinated for rabies. This helps tremendously in returning dogs to the rightful owner should they stray away from home and be picked up by Animal Control.
